The INDIA that is not INDIA! We are in the midst of times when too many things are happening around within too little time. Let me delve into some of them and share my thoughts.  We now have a grand alliance of the opposition parties and it is given the abbreviation as I.N.D.I.A. A smart move indeed, if only they could convince that it is a pan-India, all-inclusive alliance formidable to throw Modi and his party out of the power at the center. Let us leave it there. This article is not about the grand opposition alliance. It is rather on varied subjects that are contemporary and my thoughts on them. It has been a very long time that I wrote on my blog. Not that I didn't have anything to write or didn't want to, but it is simply because the thoughts kept on coming to my mind and just got vanished before I could put them in words and put it here in the blog. So many coincidences could be observed in the styles (or lack of it of some) of functioning of several state and the Centra...

Why BJP lost in Ayodhya (Faizabad parliament seat)?

I see a lot of videos and posts going viral on the reasons why Ayodhya residents voted out BJP, inspite of building the Sri Ram temple, a dream coming true for the believers worldover for the past 500+ years. That will be a half-truth. Generally when a road is widened or some development work is planned in a road, the owners(landlords) are given compensation, while the tenants would be paid(if at all) some paltry sum. In fact it would be like a blessing in disguise for the landlords, as these commercial tenants(shopkeepers) will be paying peanuts since ages and would not be neither increasing the rents or vacating the premises. So, that pains the shopkeepers. This is my understanding and observation.  Like the death of Karna, there would be many reasons for the defeat of the BJP candidate there, just like elsewhere in UP. BJP's sitting MP Lallan Singh is not to the liking of the many in the party, in the constituency. Though there was dislike by the local cadre, BJP could not replac...

Chaar sou paar pe kya takraar?

India at its inflection point with BJP @240 and NDA @293 "When a cricket match is lost, critics to armchair journalists come out calling for the head of the captain. It is quite but natural" - Anonymous "Decisions are not made with discussions. Decisions are made and discussed later. If you keep discussing, you can never decide" - Thyrocare founder Arokiaswamy Velumani  "You have hundred reasons for a failure and everyone watching you will give you one new one, once they feel that you haven't won or not performed so well" - Anonymous The reason I started with these not so famous quotes is the outcome of the General elections of 2024. Modi has put his best touring and travelling across the country, working hard along with Amit Shah tirelessly to return to power and launch NDA 3.0 or rather Modi 3.0 government at the centre. Ab ki baar chaar sou paar was the slogan - 370 to BJP and 400+ to NDA. Not to be. Here comes the problem. BJP has ended with 240 a...

Why I Voted For Narendra Modi!

Image
Today is a big day for the people of Telangana. We had polling for both the newly formed Assembly and the Parliament. I voted for Narendra Modi. Yes, you heard it right. I voted for Modi, not just BJP. In that I voted for a Leader. I voted for a visionary. I voted for the statesman who would walk the talk. His being a BJP's Prime Ministerial candidate is incidental for me. I am no weatherman to tell if there is Modi wave or not in the country. Let me reserve that till May 16 when the Parliament election results would be out in the open. No prizes for guessing. I do not hesitate to wear it on my sleeve, my support to Modi for PM. I can't see any better leader in the recent times. I am for the development of my nation and I yearn to see Modi as PM. In the process, I put down my views on him and the endless controversies around him, from my own little understanding. Let me start the discourse with the standard disclaimer. I follow political activity of the nation without m...

Ab Ka Gaana...Telangana

Having resisting myself from writing on the hot topic of Telangana statehood for so long, I felt a time has come for me to write on this in my blog. First I need to wear my credentials on my sleeves, before commenting on this sensitive issue. It also matters, sometimes, WHO said it, rather than WHAT is said. My father's great grandfather belonged to this land of Nawabs, Hyderabad. My grandfather has migrated to the Andhra region and father came back to Hyderabad a decade before I was born. So you may agree no less that I am a truer Hyderabadi than our own Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy. This reaffirms my capacity to comment on this topic, dispassionately. Being born and brought up in this Hyderabad City, I am not exposed to the Coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema regions, now euphemistically called as the "Seemaandhra" regions. This word itself is a misnomer, as people of both these regions do not accept or agree with each other, Andhra people and Rayalaseema people do not...

Guru Poornima

Gurave Sarvalokanaam Bhishaje Bhava Roginaam Nidhaye Sarva Vidyanaam Dakshinamurthaye Namaha Today is the most auspicious day in the Hindu almanac, being Guru Poornima. Today is the day on which Bhagavan Veda Vyasa was born to Saint Parashara & Satyavathi. It is also called Vyasa Poornima. "Vyaso narayanena swayam" , Vyasa is himself Vishnu and is one of the greatest gurus who has given to this world the Brahmasutras, Ashtadasa Puranas and who has divided the Vedas into four stratas. That is the regard that the believers of Sanatana Dharma has on this great guru. Incarnation of the Trinity, Sri Guru Dattatreya shows you the tradition of Guru-sishya(preacher-disciple). So is Shirdi Sai Baba. This day is celebrated in the famous shrines of Lord Dattatreya and Shirdi Sai Baba with devotional fervour for this reason. Dakshinamurthy, the form of Shiva who is the preacher, is called Adiguru or the first preacher to the Universe. Then you have "Krishnam Vande Jag...

Anna Hazare & War On Corruption

In the past few days, we are inundated with the coverage of the protests led by Anna Hazaare. First it was the positive coverage, lack of government's appropriate response, solidarity extended by various individuals, among others. Later, the celebration of the victory, its hailing, etc. Last heard, the controversies surrounding the members. It is not apt for me to go on these topics bit by bit. I shall instead focus of the prime aspects of the circumstances that led to this mammoth show of public angst in this movement. Recently one of my friends has asked me who this Anna Hazare is? He said he came to know of this man only after he sat on hunger strike at Jantar Mantar. He is absolutely fine with his question. Though I dare not to say that I too am in the similar situation, it would not be proper to tell that I knew all about this legend. To my memory, atleast in a couple of occasions, this one-man movement called Anna Hazare had caught my attention in the past. All I knew about...
