Why BJP lost in Ayodhya (Faizabad parliament seat)?

I see a lot of videos and posts going viral on the reasons why Ayodhya residents voted out BJP, inspite of building the Sri Ram temple, a dream coming true for the believers worldover for the past 500+ years. That will be a half-truth. Generally when a road is widened or some development work is planned in a road, the owners(landlords) are given compensation, while the tenants would be paid(if at all) some paltry sum. In fact it would be like a blessing in disguise for the landlords, as these commercial tenants(shopkeepers) will be paying peanuts since ages and would not be neither increasing the rents or vacating the premises. So, that pains the shopkeepers. This is my understanding and observation.

Like the death of Karna, there would be many reasons for the defeat of the BJP candidate there, just like elsewhere in UP. BJP's sitting MP Lallan Singh is not to the liking of the many in the party, in the constituency. Though there was dislike by the local cadre, BJP could not replace him for whatever reason.

More importantly, SP played the caste card smartly in the constituency, like elsewhere in UP. Generally Yadavs do not go with the SCs in UP. But Akhilesh yadav has nominated a Pasi candidate(in fact, he is not a weighty candidate too, but for his caste tag), though that LS seat is not a reserved seat. Lallan Singh is from the so-called upper caste. So, overwhelmed by their community candidate, the SC (particularly the Pasi ones) voters, who are large in numbers, voted for him. Nothing wrong in what SP did, as after all it is electoral politics and like in war and love, so is in election - all is fair.

Similarly, take the case of Varanasi. When Yogi wanted to make the temple corridor wide, they have demolished the houses(trust me, most of them would be encroachments), the residents were paid good compensation. The interesting thing here is, inside their houses, there were so many small temples. I hope you understood the case. The contours were extended illegally by the residents. But those residents would be nevertheless unhappy. Any development work comes with a collateral damage, whether it is in the form of being unpopular or losing votes. The media, particularly the English media will interview the affected people and will blow things out of proportion. The local businessmen say corporates(a contemporary abusive word for business houses, who provide employment to much more than what these shops give) have taken over the businesses and small businesses like them are losing the revenue.

On the same backdrop, I heard from a lot of intellectuals, seculars and liberals the criticism about this whole thing of temple building and corridor development. They say instead they can put money on building schools, hospitals, blah blah.. What they don't understand or rather pretend to ignore is, this is much more than a temple building or a corridor development. It is Sanatan Economics. How much tourism footfall will come because of these works, how much of direct and indirect employment it creates? Not in a small measure. We should go to a stage where the temple should emerge as a revenue model with large temple lands(there used to be lakhs of acres, courtesy Cholas, Pandyas, Krishnadevaraya's among many more kings and Zamindars and philanthropists in the erstwhile periods). so that they can build and run hospitals, veda patasalas, educational institutions, gowshalas among many other such establishments.

But then the question comes to my mind. Do we Indians, more so Hindus deserve such real development? Even if 20% or 30% of Muslims and Christians vote against BJP, why can't Hindus vote as one block to the party? It is not just for building temples and corridors, it is primarily for building roads, highways, infrastructure and improving the lives of the millions, if not crores. Yogi has revolutionarily transformed UP. What was the payback? You may say differences between Yogi and Shah, Yogi and Modi, ignoring RSS and all that nonsense. These are just lame excuses. Muslims voted as a community and Hindus voted as individuals(caste wise, self-proclaimed intelligence-wise, liberal thinking-wise). Period.
